This article is written as part of a larger presentation I gave last year for Penn State Health’s Women’s Health Seminar Series. Women at Penn State University are some of the most vulnerable to developing hormone-related cancers including breast, colon, and uterine cancers. These cancers are often associated with estrogen receptor (ER) overexpression, which is a sign of hormone dependence.
We talked about how women at Penn State University have a lot of questions about breast and uterine cancers. What makes it more difficult to detect these cancers is that they are often discovered during a screening mammogram. When it comes to detecting these cancers, the standard is to send a woman to a physician who will then look at her breast and/or uterus to find out if there are high levels of ER (estrogen receptor) in them.
ER receptors are hormone receptors that are found in the cells of the ovaries and the uterus. When a woman has breast cancer or a uterus cancer, the ER receptor is usually overexpressed, meaning that there is a higher amount of an ER protein inside the cells.
Penn State University is one of the best places to get a mammogram. Since the ER-overexpression is usually a sign of cancer, it means that you are likely carrying a tumor. This is why the screening test is so important. It is a blood test, and while it is free from risk factors, we do have to be careful with it. The good news is that you can do it at home.
There is an excellent reason to go to a women’s health clinic at Penn State. When you are having a mammogram, the physician will use very fine needles to find out what type of tumor you have. This test is very invasive, so if you do not have a mammogram in the next five years then you will not be able to get a mammogram at Penn State. However, if the breast cancer does spread, then you will have to spend several years in the hospital.
It’s unlikely that I will ever have to spend that long in the hospital and that’s why I’m such a huge fan of Penn State’s mammogram program. The women in the mammogram program have to be in good general health so that the physician can look for other signs of breast cancer. The Penn State women’s health program is also very supportive of women who choose to have cosmetic breast surgery instead of a mammogram.
The mammogram is a part of Penn States Women’s Health program in which women get free breast cancer screenings at Penn State hospitals. In fact, it’s the only way to find out if you have breast cancer.
Women with a false positive mammogram are given a referral to a special cancer clinic to have the actual mammogram done. This is great because it allows the physician who conducted the mammogram to see exactly how sick you really are. The clinic is also very supportive of the women who choose to have cosmetic breast surgery instead of a mammogram.
I love this program because it’s a game changer for women with breast cancer. The main concern with the program is that it’s not free. The only thing that could make this program more cost effective is to have a screening test that can be done at home.
Yes, you can still find women who are uninsured. I think the best way to find those people is to just give them a mammogram and let them pay for it (most people have insurance). A lot of the uninsured women I know have insurance but are being denied because they aren’t a family member. If you know someone who is uninsured, you can start a campaign to get them to pay their premiums.
